Born in Potenza, she trained in jewellery making at the Riaci Academy in Florence, where she completed her education at the Laboratorio delle Arti Orafe (LAO). In 2000 she opened her own atelier in Potenza. There she makes art jewellery and sculptures of various materials, including bronze, brass, and semi-precious stones. In 2004, at the Galleria Tekné of Potenza, she presented her first solo exhibition, followed by many group exhibitions in years. In 2008 she displayed her jewels and sculptures in another solo show, entitled “Fluid Metamorphoses”, at the Provincial Museum of Potenza. In 2015 she started collaborating with Porta Coeli, and debuted in Venosa with “Tales of Flames”, an anthological exhibition of her jewels, sculptures, and installations. Showing through her pieces of jewellery art as well as through her sculptures is Manuela Telesca’s desire to capture the magic in artistic heritage from the past and recreate it in the present. All this through a kind of alchemy of forms and precious materials. Her latest series of jewels, to be shown for the first time in Yerevan, namely “Futura”, “Condottiera”, “Monadi” and “Teodora”, appear to be materialising as objects between the past and present by effect of a spell. Indeed, they offer the viewer a treasure trove of keys for reading the world in which they shine.
