Early-career paintress and designer, Paola Salvia studied arts in her hometown, Potenza, and completed her education in Architecture at the Università di Roma Tre. She experiments different media and techniques to create works with a high emotional impact, drawing the viewer in a sort of limbo in between abstraction and figuration. She won the first prize for painting in the Waiting for the Florence Biennale contest organized by Porta Coeli International Art Gallery in 2016. At the XIth Florence Biennale she has exhibited Signs of Life, which bears witness to her recent maternity experience. Through this installation, composed of two triptychs painted with different media (quartz, natural ink, pigments and binder on canvas) mounted on the recto and verso of a plexiglas panel, Paola Salvia crystallises into evocative images the energy of a life that is becoming flesh and blood as being nourished (not only physically) by his/her mother.
