"In the Nothingness" - Marwan Nahlé's painting solo exhibition

9th January - 20th April 2016

Venosa (PZ) – Porta Coeli International Art Gallery opens the year 2016 with a painting solo exhibition, exclusively for Italy, by Artist Marwan Nahlé, titled “In the Nothingness”.

The opening, to be held on 9th January at 6:00 pm at the Gallery’s premises in Vico San Domenico 1, in the historic centre of the Venosa, will see the presence of the artist. During the evening, a number of speeches will take place: dr. Tommaso Gammone, Mayor of Venosa, dr. Aniello Ertico, Director of Porta Coeli International Art Gallery, Artist Miguel Gomez, President of the Federico II Events in Bari; journalist Angela Maria Salvatore as moderator.

Marwan’s paintings are full of intense colour, stirring a variety of emotions in the observer. His artworks span very small and large canvas, the subjects are undefined and landscapes without horizon line. His journey across the world, physical and then artistic, leads him toward both real and abstract a kind of art. The subjects and landscapes of his artworks allow the spectator into a journey within the journey and touch the deepest emotional spheres. His art must be felt, not just observed. The innate ability in rendering a painted landscape immense on a very small space makes his art unique.

Marwan Nahlé was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1965. His father is the famous artist Wajih Nahlé who opened an important renovation phase in the oriental figurative art, giving a wider breath of life to the Arabic calligraphy in the world. Marwan is a world traveler, he has lived for many years in France, USA and many other places. Since 1988 he is holding a number of solo and group exhibitions in the whole world, from Lebanon to California to Australia, just to mention a few.

His vision of the world, dreamy and realistic at the same time, emerges full of charm and mystery from his artworks, and catches the eye of the observers thanks to the warm and seducing traits.

The catalogue of the exhibition, curated by Porta Coeli Art Gallery, featuring a foreword by the Director Aniello Ertico, has seen the collaboration – for the critical review, of Mariadelaide Cuozzo, contemporary art history professor at the University of Basilicata and of Professor Stanley Robert Krol for translation.

The Event will be presented at the Acli Touristic Centre of Potenza, via Rosica 2, on Friday 8th January, 6:30 pm.

Enjoying the patronage of the Municipality of Venosa, of the Florence Biennale and the Bastioni Association in Florence, the exhibition “In the Nothingness” will be on show until 30th April 2016.
