23rd July - 27th September 2017
On Sunday 23th July 2017, at the Porta Coeli International Art Gallery premises in Venosa, the bi-personal exhibition of artists Vito Pace and Marcello samela will be inaugurated in the contemporary art section of the ancient Palazzo Rapolla, at 7:00 pm.
During the evening a number of talks will be held: Aniello Ertico, Director of Porta Coeli, dr. Melanie Zefferino, curator of the Florence Biennale, Lucio Pio Samela, curator of the critical text for the exhibition. The artists will be attending the opening.
“Breathing Landscape” is the result of a dialogue between the two different creative directions of Pace and Samela, having both divergence and affinity in their goals. As a matter of fact, starting from different assumptions and modalities, they develop a research on landscape exploring different stylistic and expressive possibilities. Vito Pace brings his studio into the landscape, where the studio is a real creative laboratory.
Vito Pace lives and works in Karlsruhe (Germany). His artistic research aims at removing any obstacle from the creative process. All that counts for Pace is the artwork never seen as a mere object, but focusing on the revelation of the procedure leading to its creation. From sculpture to drawing, to performative and visual arts, he's continuously exposing the concept that becomes work of art, together with the process that makes it possible.
Marcello Samela lives and works in Avigliano (PZ), and his artworks are divided between past and inevitable contemporary creative modalities. A research setting the artist between nostalgic mannerism and originality, concentrated onto a free painting approach, almost a forever-evolving draft that may allow multiple interpretative directions.
By means of photographic/documentary, graphic, painting and sculptural artworks, “Breathing Landscape” fully expresses the plurality of concepts that the artistic research of the artists aims at pursuing. The exhibition will be on show until the 27th September.
is not merely a place: it is an avant-garde idea generated and nourished in an Italian province, quite far from huge capitals.
