Following the successful participation at the XI Florence Biennale, Porta Coeli International Art Gallery & Academy of Venosa presented “Genesis – Contemporary Art Group Exhibition” featuring ten artists from Basilicata on show at the Florence Biennale.The opening will be held on 19th November 2017, 6.20. pm, at the exhibition halls of the ancient Palazzo Rapolla, in the heart of the historic centre of Venosa, the Gallery’s premises.
Moderated by Eva Bonitatibus, the evening will host a number of talks: institutional greetings by the Mayor of Venosa, Tommaso Gammone, followed by the critical review made by Aniello Ertico, Director of Porta Coeli International Art Gallery titled “The Genesis Project: outside the Eden, Adam cultivated apples”, and by Donato Faruolo, designer and artist with “An hopeful crisis: contemporary art and territorial images”. Conclusions will be made by Marcello Pittella, President of the Regione Basilicata and by the president of the Regional Commission of people from Basilicata in the World, Aurelio Pace.
“Genesis” multidisciplinary itinerant exhibition project created by Porta Coeli International Art Gallery and Study Centre for Mediterranean Culture in collaboration with artists from Basilicata, was shown for the first time at the Florence Biennale 2017 – XI International Art Exhibition in Florence, from 6th to 15th October 2017 at the Fortezza da Basso. The results of the participation have seen seven artists awarded, six Lorenzo il Magnifico awards in the different artistic categories and a prestigious artist residency in China.
Compared to the numbers, 462 artist from 72 Countries in the whole world, for a whole of 1357 artworks makes the result far more extraordinary.
The ten artists curated by Porta Coeli in the Genesis project are: Salvatore Comminiello, Nicola di Vietri, Aniello Ertico, Nadia Kibout, Salvatore Laurenzana, Donato Linzalata, Nisio Lopergolo, Antonella Rubertone, Antonio Saluzzi, Paola Salvia. Together with the artworks of the mentioned artists, works by Dutch photographer Eli Dijkers will be also on show, as winner of the Porta Coeli Artist Residency award.
Enjoying the moral patronage of the Florence Biennale, “Genesis – Contemporary Art Group Exhibition” with its 27 artworks spanning painting and sculpture, jewels and art ceramic, video art and photography, will be on show until 28th January 2018.
