On Saturday 21st March 2015, 6.00 pm, Porta Coeli International Art Gallery – Study Center for Mediterranean Culture, in collaboration with the Souq Waqif Art Center of Doha, Quatar, presents an exhibition titled “PuroSangue”. The Arabian horse cult in Rima Almozayyen’s and Jameela Al Shraim’s artworks”. At the Gallery’s premises in the ancient “Palazzo Rapolla” situated in Vico San Domenico, the interesting exhibition dedicated to the study of the Arabian horse will be opened and will be on show until next 19th April. The collaboration with the Souq Waqif Art Center is prestigious, as it opens to internationalization through Porta Coeli for the first time since it was founded. Amongst the guests, the Vice-Director and Artistic Director Faisal Marzouq Al Abdulla (high government official) are expected to be attending. The exhibition “Thoroughbred” curated by the Italian gallery will be displayed in Doha too, capital city of Qatar, from 5th to 20th May. Director Aniello Ertico will attend the opening. This is the beginning of a real cultural exchange for promotion of Italian artists in Qatar, under Porta Coeli’s curation. During the evening there will be a number of talks: Tommaso Gammone, Mayor of Venosa, dr. Angela Blasi - Presindent of the Regional Equal Opportunity Commission, Paolo Galante – Vice-president of the Basilicata Regional Council; dr.Aniello Ertico – Director of Porta Coeli International Art Gallery and dr. Fiorella Fiore – critic, art historian and curator of the critical texts. Artists Rima Almoayyen and Jameela Al Shraim will attend the opening. The chosen theme, the study of the Arabian horse, wants to be an homage to a culture rich in traditions and symbols, revealing themselves to the observer by means of both their evocative and innovative power. Another suggestive moment promoted by Porta Coeli through over thirty artworks by the two artists Rima Almozayyen from Palestine and Jameela Al Shraim from Qatar, leading the spectator through a brand new journey into art. Dr. Fiore ends her review writing “…God within the word, a trace of his work within the beauty and majesty of the horse”.
is not merely a place: it is an avant-garde idea generated and nourished in an Italian province, quite far from huge capitals.
